Meet the Moran Pallets Team
Moran Pallets & Wood Products - A Family Business
The First Generation
In 1963, Bernard Moran was working as a general contractor in Phoenix, Arizona. While working as a GC, he recognized that there was a low supply of stakes and lath available to general contractors at the time. So, using his wonderful mechanical mind, he built a stake and lath cutting machine in his garage. Although he viewed this as just a passion project at first, eventually Bernard realized that he wanted to pursue this opportunity full time. And, just like that, Moran & Sons’ Lumber Company was born.
Bernard fell in love with his garage passion project turned business. So, after partnering with his brothers, Bernard became Chief Executive Officer of Moran & Sons’ Lumber. The name he chose was intentional – he dreamed of passing his business down to his children.
The Second Generation
Bernard was able to realize his dream in the late 80s and early 90s. Armed with a Business degree from Arizona State, Greg joined the family business in the late 80s, focusing on new pallet production. Tim studied Accounting at Arizona State University and became a CPA. After managing the bookkeeping behind the scenes for Moran & Sons’ for several years, Tim joined the business full time in 1991.
Shortly after Tim’s arrival, Bernard’s cousin, Tom Farrier, joined the Moran & Sons’ team. Tom’s keen project management skills made him a natural fit to lead the new pallet & wood product operations. Greg shifted his focus to recycled pallet operations, laying the foundation for our recycling operations today.
Sadly, in 1994 Bernard passed away. Determined to build on his legacy, Tim became the new Chief Executive Officer.
Tim, Greg and Tom worked together tirelessly to always provide the best possible product and customer experience possible. Because of their leadership, Moran & Sons’ became a premier pallet manufacturer in Phoenix, Arizona with a strong reputation for quality.
Tom eventually retired in the mid-2000’s. Greg, unfortunately, passed away suddenly in 2015.
Greg’s passing left some big shoes to fill. Fortunately, Tim’s son John, was determined to learn every aspect of the pallet business. John started building pallets in the manufacturing yard in 2015. After 4 years of building pallets, Tim mentored John on the day-to-day operations. John became the General Manager of Moran & Sons’ in 2020.
The Third Generation
Greg’s passing left some big shoes to fill. Fortunately, Tim’s son John, was determined to learn every aspect of the pallet business. John started building pallets in the manufacturing yard in 2015. After 4 years of building pallets, Tim mentored John on the day-to-day operations. John became the General Manager of Moran & Sons’ in 2020.
Bernard’s dream of keeping the business in the family has now become Tim’s dream. Tim has 7 children with his wife Rhonda Moran. All 7 children have worked at the business in some capacity since the late 1990’s, performing a wide range of duties from sales to accounting to building pallets. Today, three children are involved with the family business: John, Maggie and Molly. John is the General Manager, Maggie is the office manager and Molly manages the digital footprint.
In 2023, Moran & Sons’ Lumber rebranded to Moran Pallets & Wood Products. Our name may be different, but our expertise, commitment to quality and commitment to the best customer experience have remained unchanged.
We feel fortunate to serve the Southwestern United States as a family business for three generations. Of course, none of this would have been possible without Bernard’s dream, our dedicated team members and our loyal customers. From all of us at Moran Pallets, thank you!
